F4D’s First Ladies Luncheon
Coinciding with the United Nations General Assembly, since a few years there is also a First Ladies Luncheon, organised by Fashion 4 Development. Here the spouses of world leaders, UN Ambassadors and VIP guests annually have a chance to meet each other and at the same time celebrate the work of so called “Agents of Change”. The latter are people or organisations which the platform has awarded for contributing to the greater good of women and children worldwide in general, but in particular to those working in the fashion and textile industries.
As the name First Ladies Luncheon suggests, the event is centred around a seated multi-course lunch, but before and after it, the participants have the opportunity to walk around and extend their personal networks. And in case someone runs out of topics to discuss, the fashion shows on the catwalk – where also regional and fairtrade clothes are presented – can always serve as a source of inspiration. Many a famous model has been seen at this occasion, eg. Naomi Cambell and Iman Abdulmajid.
This year, BNL Clean Energy had decided to take part in this event in order to build the name of our Zero Emission Zero Residue technology and at the same time stress the value of Swiss quality engineering. Our delegation can pride itself of having had personal discussions with a great number of First Ladies, above all from Europe but also from the Middle East. We are confident that many of them have informed their spouses, respectively, about our innovative solutions.
While already being in New York, one of our directors also managed to arrange private meetings with Klaus Schwab (World Economic Forum) and Bill Gates. Now that is a totally different story.
